Thoughts on my history in fandom and what bothers me most about the current debate on fanfiction. Just a note, this was written before I knew that GRRM had posted again and I haven't read what he has to say yet.

So I signed up for sgabigbang yesterday. The word count is...very daunting (According to FF.net, my total word count for every fic I have ever written in 8 years is just over 29,000.) 40,000 words is alot of story, but I've been wanting to write something long for a while now and deadlines are my greatest motivator. In the last couple of months, I've watched more British television than I have in my entire life. Now all my narrators speak with an accent.

I just caught the last 3 episodes of Firefly on Scifi. Wow. Did it really only run for one season? If so, that is tragic. It has music. Really good, really well used music. I think I'm hooked, line and sinker.

FFnet's new policy that you have to confirm that you've read their guidelines everytime you go to post a story is really annoying. So is the fact that the new layout is more confusing than is absolutely necessary ( Read more... )
